The Season Of Love – Marykay

Some people experience love at first sight. Like falling in love with an amazing pair of shoes in a store window. While this type of instant love is intense and exciting, it does not always stand the test of time. Like when you realize that same pair of amazing shoes is only comfortable to wear for 45 minutes…max!

It showed Donkey that he had to get to know all aspects of Shrek to truly connect and develop a friendship.

The same holds true for a brand. With that in mind, I do believe that it takes time for relationships and love to develop as one explores various layers of a brand.

Valentine’s special: a dozen red roses for your nails

With Valentine’s Day just tomorrow, there isn’t a better way to treat your nails than with a dozen red roses!

This simple nail art design can be worn as an interesting twist on the classic French manicure, or mixed up with mismatch nails long after Valentine’s day.

This design is also the basic technique you will need to create any kind of floral nail, perfect for spring/summer 2014.

1. Start by painting your nails in your chosen pink/nude shade. I’ve used two coats of Avon Speed Dry+ ‘On The Go Pink’ here. 
2. Next, take a red polish and a white polish and pour a little of each onto separate areas of a disposable surface.  
3. Then take the ‘dotting end’ of the Avon Nail Decoration Tool and add three or four large red dots to the tip of the nail. Then, using a smaller amount of white polish, apply the over over the top of the red. Blend the two shades lightly with the dotting tool. Here I’ve used Avon Nailwear Pro+ in ‘Real Red’ and Avon French Manicure ‘White’.  
4. As you leave the nails to dry, pour a small amount of nail polish in a green shade onto your disposable surface. Taking the brush end of the Avon Nail Decoration Tool carefully paint small lines coming from each flower for the leaf detail of the design. Here I used Avon Nailwear Pro+ ‘Wild Savanna’.  
5. Once the nails are nearly dry, finish with your favourite top coat to prolong the life of your floral manicure.

Other floral nail ideas…

This floral design works perfectly as an accent nail. Simply follow the steps above, covering the entire nail with randomly placed large dots instead of just the tips. Other nails can be painted with the same base colour as the accent nail to bring the look together, and adorned with glitter or polka dots.
